General Motors will spend $5 billion to restructure its China business

On December 4th, General Motors announced to shareholders that it will make two non cash expenditures totaling over $5 billion on its Chinese joint venture, one related to business restructuring and the other reflecting a decline in the value of the joint venture. General Motors expects that the provision for business restructuring expenses will be between $2.6 billion and $2.9 billion, while the cost of joint venture value write down is expected to be $2.7 billion.

Swiss auto parts giant Feintool plans to close German factory, lay off over 200 employees

On December 3rd, Swiss automotive parts supplier Feintool announced that due to weak demand for electric vehicles and uncertainty in transitioning to renewable energy, the company will close one of its factories in Germany and lay off up to 200 employees.

Faintur plans to restructure the production of motor rotors and stators, and has announced the closure of an unprofitable factory located in Sachsenheim near Stuttgart, transferring most of the production to the Tokod factory in Hungary. Faintur stated that these changes will be negotiated with worker representatives and will retain around 250 of the current 450 job positions in Saxheim and Weihingen.

Tesla has become the "electric pile champion" in Beijing, with 1138 open charging piles already built

According to Tesla, they have built 1138 open charging stations in Beijing, including 983 supercharging stations and 155 destination charging stations. As of now, Tesla has a total of 136 supercharging stations and 41 destination charging stations in Beijing, making it the car brand with the largest number of charging stations in Beijing. In addition, Tesla owners can also access over 142000 third-party charging stations, which can be matched with suitable charging resources on average every 15 minutes.

Hesai has been awarded exclusive production quotas for multiple brands under Changan Automobile

On December 5th, Hesai Technology announced that its Hesai ATX, released this year, has been exclusively designated for mass production of Changan Automobile's new intelligent driving platform LiDAR, including more than ten models from multiple car brands under its umbrella. According to the plan, the order volume will exceed 1.5 million units in the next few years, and the first model of the platform is expected to start mass production in the second half of 2025.
