Layout of solid-state batteries, another move by Xinwangda

On the evening of December 12th, Xinwangda announced that its subsidiary Xinwangda Power had signed a "Solid State Battery Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement" with Xiamen Xiamen Tungsten New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Xiamen Tungsten New Energy").

Based on the complementarity and compatibility of strategic cooperation between both parties, leveraging their respective market and technological advantages in their respective fields, promoting the industrialization of a series of new energy battery materials for solid-state batteries, jointly developing a series of new energy battery materials for solid-state batteries, and further expanding business cooperation at appropriate times.


The cooperation between the two parties includes four parts, namely the development of positive electrode materials for solid-state batteries, the development of electrolytes and related materials for solid-state batteries, and the cooperation in the development and industrialization of solid-state batteries.


In terms of collaborative development of solid-state batteries, Xinwangda Power will rely on its deep research and manufacturing technology accumulation in lithium-ion batteries and solid-state batteries, and develop high-energy density and high safety solid-state batteries based on new positive electrode materials and solid-state electrolytes provided by Xiamen Tungsten New Energy. Specifically, it includes the construction of composite positive electrode ions, electronic conductive networks, development of highly stable electrolyte thin films, and development of lithium metal negative electrodes with high Coulombic efficiency without lithium dendrites, in order to meet the commercial application needs of solid-state batteries in new energy vehicles, energy storage systems, and other fields.


Solid state batteries, as an important direction of next-generation battery technology, have advantages such as high energy density, high safety, and long lifespan, and are considered an important energy solution for future electric vehicles. However, the industrialization of solid-state batteries is uncertain.

It is reported that the first generation of Xinwangda Power's semi-solid state battery with an energy density of 300Wh/kg has been developed, and the second generation of semi-solid state battery products are currently in the pilot development stage, with an energy density of 400Wh/kg. It is expected to be installed and verified by the end of this year.

In addition, the first generation of all solid state battery products with an energy density of 400Wh/kg have achieved small-scale trials, and the development of the second generation of all solid state batteries with higher energy density is also being accelerated. The design and construction of the all solid state battery production line are also accelerating synchronously, and it is planned to have mass production capacity by 2026.
