In last week's latest issue of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology catalog, we have seen the emergence of some new car models. Besides these upcoming models, what other range extending cars can we buy this year? Meanwhile, what are the technological features of current extended range vehicles?

The earliest to meet us is the "Super Range extender" system that Zhiji will release on August 1st. At the same time, Zhiji also announced that it will launch two heavyweight range extender new models in the third and fourth quarters of this year: the new generation Zhiji LS6 and the first six seater flagship SUV Zhiji LS9.

From the parameters, the "Super Range extender" of Zhiji will be equipped with a battery with a capacity of 65.9 degrees, surpassing the "Snow Owl Intelligent Range extender" of Zunjie and becoming the range extender system with the largest battery capacity. In addition, it will also be equipped with a 1.5T range extender with a power of 114kW.

According to the official language of Zhiji, the first model to launch the "Super Extended Range" system will be the Zhiji LS6, and the Zhiji LS6 Extended Range Edition has also landed on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The battery capacity has two specifications, namely 52.1 degrees and 65.9 degrees, and the pure electric range can reach 290/360km. The charging rates of these two batteries are 3C and 4C respectively.

The other model is the all-new flagship of the Zhiji 9 Series - LS9. This new SUV, known as the "Lujiazui Range Rover", has a strong sense of volume, and the Zhiji LS9 will also be a competitive model in the "large and medium-sized 6/7-seater brawl" in the second half of the year.

The Zhiji LS9 battery is worth paying attention to, and this car will be equipped with the Ningde Times Snapdragon "sodium lithium hybrid AB battery", with a maximum pure electric range expected to reach 450km.

This year, there is an irreversible trend for extended range vehicles to roll up large batteries. The combination of large batteries and a 1.5T internal combustion engine can solve range anxiety while maximizing pure electric range. SAIC has directly rolled up the battery pack to 66 degrees, which is larger than many pure electric vehicle models. From a cost perspective, it is obviously not included. We are also looking forward to SAIC bringing more technical sharing on August 1st.

Inductance has become an important consideration for today's consumers when buying a car, and after mainstream car products have been electrified, it is only natural for hardcore off-road vehicles to also be equipped with electricity.

Although there are still significant differences in several technological paths for new energy hardcore off-road vehicles, the fact is that the number of hardcore off-road vehicles with green license plates is increasing, and even classic models such as the Ford Mustang are taking big strides towards electrification.

In terms of specific power configuration, the Ford Wrangler Extended Range Edition will no longer be equipped with the classic 2.3T EcoBoost turbocharged engine of the Ford family, but will be equipped with a 1.5T engine codenamed GE15A6L, with a maximum net power of 110 kW. The peak power of the front and rear drive motors of the four-wheel drive version is 130 kW and 180 kW respectively.

In addition to differences in power systems, the Ford Mustang Extended Range Edition has also undergone slight changes in its design and body dimensions, with an updated energy style. According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ford Mustang Extended Range Edition is expected to be equipped with a laser radar and advanced driving assistance functions, which are also worth looking forward to.

The current gasoline version of the Ford Wrangler on sale has a starting price of 299800 yuan, the top of the line limited edition is 498800 yuan, and the Ford Wrangler extended range version is expected to land in the fourth quarter of this year, with a price of around 350000 yuan. At that time, the more electric version of the Wrangler may also boost Ford's sales.

Zhijing "is a high-end new energy sub brand positioned under Buick.

As the brand's first model, the Zhijing L7 has chosen to enter the new energy market with the most popular range extender power among consumers.

From a product level perspective, the Zhijing L7 has dimensions of 5032mm, 1952mm, and 1500mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3000mm. Its size has reached the level of a medium to large-sized sedan.  

Although it is an extended range power system, the powertrain combination of the Zhijing L7 is still very impressive. For example, it is equipped with a 252kW rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, which was first launched in the same class, and a 1.5T "Top Ten Chinese Heart Engines" as an extender. The maximum power of the extender is 115kW, and the peak torque is 230Nm.

Paired with a 40.2 degree lithium iron phosphate battery pack, the CLTC pure electric range of the Zhijing L7 is 210km, with a comprehensive range of over 1000km.

In terms of intelligence, the highlight of the Zhijing L7 is the first release of the Qualcomm SA8775P chip on the intelligent cabin, as well as the first use of the Momenta R6 flywheel model in intelligent driving, which can achieve L2++full scene assisted driving, including functions such as NOA in urban areas without maps and automatic parking.

At present, there are not many medium to large-sized extended range sedans in the market, and direct competitors of the Zhijing L7 may include products such as the Xiangjie S9 and Star Era ES.

As an old joint venture brand, Buick may be able to endow the Zhijing L7 with some product qualities that new forces do not possess, but whether it can compete with new force products in terms of intelligence still needs to wait for the product to land before a conclusion can be drawn.

Thanks to the good market performance of several brands previously empowered by HarmonyOS, the Shangjie H5, as the first car of the last member of the HarmonyOS Five Realms, has received a high level of attention.

Firstly, the length, width, and height of the Shangjie H5 are 4780/1910/1657mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2840mm. At first glance, the overall exterior design may seem a bit thought-provoking for the Wanjie M5, but the actual vehicle lines are much more streamlined than the Wanjie M5.  

In terms of power system, the Shangjie H5 extended range version 1.5T extender has a peak power of 72kW and a motor peak power of 150kW. It is equipped with a 32.6-degree battery pack and has a WLTC pure electric range of 181km and a comprehensive range of 1300km.

As one of the Hongmeng Five Realms, the intelligent driving of Shangjie H5 is also a key focus. It is expected to be equipped with Huawei ADS 4 intelligent driving system, and the high-end version will be equipped with 192 line laser radar and 4D millimeter wave radar, supporting full scene assisted driving functions such as urban NCA and chauffeur parking.

If there is an entry-level version, it will be equipped with a visually driven ADS SE solution, retaining high-speed NOA and basic LCC functions.

According to the official statement of Shangjie, if Shangjie H5 wants to become a "disruptor" in the mainstream SUV market of 200000 yuan, its final official starting price is likely to fall within 200000 yuan.

At that time, the mid-range hybrid SUV with a starting price of less than 200000 yuan and equipped with Huawei's intelligent driving system will still have great appeal in the consumer market. It is expected that competitors such as the Xiaopeng G7, Tesla Model Y, and Xiaomi YU7 will become its rivals.

Xiaopeng will also bring their extended range models this year, and it is expected that the first to be launched will be the mid to large SUV with the internal code name G01 and the extended range version X9.

The Xiaopeng extended range model has not yet been officially unveiled, but as early as November last year, Xiaopeng Motors leaked some extended range technologies in advance and named it the "Xiaopeng Kunpeng Super Electric System".

Xiaopeng's extended range technology will also adopt a large battery solution, with an expected pure electric range of 430km and a comprehensive range of 1400km.

As part of the extended range system, the Kunpeng super electric system will also be equipped with a 5C battery, achieving the ability to charge over 1km in 1 second and reach 80% in 12 minutes.

The first to be equipped with the Xiaopeng Kunpeng super electric system will be a mid to large SUV with the internal code G01. This car is developed based on the Xiaopeng G9 prototype and will be available in a six seater version.

This car will be mass-produced in September this year and launched in the fourth quarter.

In addition to G01, recently we have also frequently seen G6 refueling at gas stations, and perhaps the extended range version of G6 is not far away from us.
