Jaguar Land Rover has reached an iconic milestone with more than 1.5m Ingenium engines now in production at its UK manufacturing plant.The First of the £1 billion series of Engines developed at JAGUAR Land Rover's engine plant in Wolverhampton rolled off the production line in 2015.
Initially, the plant produced only one four-cylinder diesel engine and began producing four-cylinder gasoline engines in 2016.Since then, the plant has also produced an in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine to replace the old Ford V6 used in JAGUAR Land Rover.Since the launch of the Jaguar I-Pace, the Commie has also undertaken the assembly of electric drive units.
The Wolverhampton plant will also be adjusted to further advance the electrification process.Jaguar Land Rover said, "It will continue to develop Avionics technology, continue to advance the electrification of its vehicle lineup, and build hydrogen fuel cell powertrain solutions.
JLR has built an electrified ecosystem that is gradually improving.The new battery assembly centre, 25 miles from Heimshall in Birmingham, makes battery packs for both pure electric and plug-in hybrid cars.
JLR operates two design and development centres, three car plants and two powertrain assembly plants in the UK.It has vehicle manufacturing plants in China, Brazil, India, Austria and Slovakia.More than 557,000 JLR models were produced worldwide in 2019.
