On August 31, Lotus Technology Co., Ltd. officially announced its establishment and settled its global headquarters in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone. In the future, Lotus Technology will integrate R&D and design institutions in China, Britain, and Germany and global resources to create ultra-high-end pure electric smart cars for the global market.
At the inauguration ceremony, Lotus Technology announced its product plan for the next five years. Within five years, Lotus Technology plans to launch three pure electric smart products: in 2022, it will launch the E-class SUV code-named Type132; in 2023, it will launch the E-class four-door coupe code-named Type133; in 2025, it will launch the code name. It is a Type 134 D-class "new species of pure electric intelligence".
The above three new models will form Lotus Group's global pure electric product matrix for the next five years together with Lotus UK’s pure electric supercar EVIJA and the pure electric trot to be launched in 2026.

In order to achieve the ultra-high-end product positioning, Lotus will launch an independently developed EPA edge evolution architecture. It is understood that the EPA architecture applies track-level electric drive smart driving to daily driving scenarios according to the development needs of ultra-high-end pure electric smart cars under Lotus. The wheelbase can be adapted between 2889-3100mm according to the model. It retains the flexibility to expand the space and can support the development of C+, D, E and higher-level models.
EPA's high-voltage system adopts the industry's top 800V three-electric system, which can carry 92-120kWh electricity. Products based on this architecture can easily achieve zero-hundred acceleration within 3 seconds.
At present, Lotus is building a smart factory in Wuhan. The factory is scheduled to be completed and put into production in 2021, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. As the world's first factory to adopt full-process 3D digital twin technology, the Wuhan Smart Factory realizes a customized experience of "build 1 car for one person".
Not only that, the factory has also set up the world's first in-plant compound experience track—smart track to meet the testing and experience needs of diversified products such as racing, drifting, and off-road. In terms of intelligence, after the vehicle has completed the quality inspection, it can realize unmanned warehousing; in the warehousing and logistics link, the entire process is unmanned and automated.
It is worth noting that Lotus Technology recently signed an investment agreement with NIO Capital. The two parties will jointly explore the space for global industrial collaboration and promote the development of ultra-high-end pure electric smart subdivision track. At the event, Li Bin, the managing partner of NIO Capital, attended the online inauguration ceremony and delivered a speech.
