Mazda misleads customers

  The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) filed a lawsuit against Mazda in October 2019. The case involved 7 Mazda vehicles and 10 customers. The agency stated that the court found that Mazda made 49 false or misleading statements to 9 consumers. These consumers encountered serious and recurring malfunctions within one to two years after purchasing the vehicle, and they demanded a refund. Or replace with a new car.


  ACCC stated that Mazda chose to ignore or reject customer claims and told them that the only remedy the company could do was to repair the vehicle again. ACCC Chairman Rod Sims said in a statement: "Mazda's approach to these consumers not only provided unacceptable customer service as pointed out by the judge, but also seriously violated the law." Mazda Australia said. , They are carefully considering the Federal Court’s findings, but declined to comment further.


  However, the court rejected the regulator’s accusation that Mazda had “unreasonable behavior” in its transactions with these customers. The court will make a decision on the penalties and other orders the ACCC seeks at a later date.
