A few days ago, we learned from relevant sources that Ford will further cut 1100 jobs in its Valencia plant in Spain due to the suspension of production of the S-Max and Galaxy small MPV models. This measure will further promote Ford's automobile production lineup in the European market.
The Ford brand announced the suspension of production of the S - Max and Galaxy MPV models last year, and the plan will start in April this year. In addition to these two MPV models, Ford Valencia will continue to produce Transit Connect compact van and Kuga compact SUV models. A spokesman for Ford Europe said that Ford was committed to working with its trade union partners to minimize the related follow-up impact of layoffs on its employees, families and local communities.
Last year, Ford stopped the production of Mondeo mid-size cars at its Valencia factory, which is also part of its restructuring plan. This move will further highlight the challenges faced by Ford as a traditional automobile manufacturer to move towards more efficient and sustainable production and transportation mode.
It is worth noting that this layoff will not be the last one. By 2025, Ford will have 2800 layoffs in European factories. With the arrival of the wave of electrification, the production mode of various models will be further simplified, and the Ford brand will continue to simplify the operation. The remaining 1000 jobs will be cut from the administrative, marketing, sales and distribution functions.
