On August 11, the 12th China Auto Blue Book Forum 2020, themed with "Winter Bud", opened in the city of Heroes in Wuhan.
The theme of this year's China Auto Blue Book Forum is "Winter Bud". China Automobile Blue Book Forum hopes that the theme of "Winter Bud" can better convey the positive, upward, optimistic and unyielding spirit, which fits well with the post-epidemic era atmosphere.
As the first major automobile forum held since the coVID-19 outbreak in China, the forum has been held for three consecutive days (August 11-13). More than 200 industry leaders have been invited to attend the forum. There are 22 important round-table topics and 30 excellent speeches.
The digital economy is transforming the world. In an environment of full connectivity, information symmetry and efficient collaboration, China already has the largest number of connected cars in the world. Digital civilization will enable China to form a more unique car culture. Cars have become second only to houses as a new living carrier, mobile living space.
August 12 in the afternoon, in the twelfth session of China's blue book of BBS "in the" intelligent plate, So the Car & CEO xiao-liang zhang, founder of the "digital and intelligent Car" to China into big data and cloud are analyzed, 5 g, AI, Internet of things, such as block chain after digital civilization, characterized in automotive should how from the machine intelligence to digital intelligence, manage the user experience, put forward some good advice.
As for the definition of intelligent vehicles, Zhang believes that vehicles with complete perception of road conditions, vehicle conditions and other critical scene conditions, as well as decision-making and execution capabilities that can evolve over the course of use.
And for whom will the smart car ultimately win? He felt that there were two criteria to be considered: first, whether there were intelligent genes, and second, whether there was the willingness and ability to operate, iterate and evolve on their own in the new intelligent environment.
The following is a transcript of Zhang xiaoliang's speech, which is slightly abridged.
What I'd like to share with you today is that the reason we're talking more about smart cars today is not because of changes in cars, but because we're in an environment that's moving into a newer form, what I call digital civilization.
Digital civilization means first of all, we can have more symmetrical information, can put more associated with living things are fully connected, connect these things later, we will find that we have entered a more different from the past traditional civilization of industry update, the culture morphology change itself to drive the car to hard into such a form of civilization, this is what we see today in the intelligence it is the nature of things.
In terms of digital civilization, the first example that we see is the coVID-19 containment period and we can feel that, thanks to adequate data connectivity, our country, our city and our community are actually more like a whole living thing.
In the past, we have divided each individual into two different directions of evolution. In the smallest subdivision, the coVID-19 epidemic actually fights against a virus, which is more like a single, low-iq mass with a high IQ. Each of us actually has a high individual IQ, but the collective IQ is not as high as the individual. In the constant struggle between these two masses, we can feel that it is the two different directions of our entire evolution.
As a digital civilization, it is the equivalent of fully connecting each of us to become a new species of higher dimensions and wholeness.
If it falls into the car, Mr. Ying also said, we can see that the car in the past has nothing to do with smart city and intelligent transportation, but if connected, the car will become more ways to live and travel, and it will bring totally different product requirements.
Since we are dealing with a kind of civilization, every time we discover the change of civilization will bring a very cruel form. For the automobile enterprises, facing the intelligent and digitalized transformation, it is actually a struggle to win the right to survival or a way to find.
In order to win the right to survive in the age of digital intelligence, cars first need to have intelligent genes, i.e., full perception ability. The second is to fully integrate myself into the digital civilization environment and acquire the evolution and iteration ability based on perception ability.
Let's see, if we want to introduce digital civilization, the traditional car is actually mechanical intelligence. To make an analogy, a watch is a better case. What is intelligence? What exactly is a smart car? A vehicle that has a complete perception of road conditions, vehicle conditions and other critical scene conditions, as well as decision-making and execution capabilities that can evolve over time, can be called an intelligent vehicle.
If you look at it this way, what kind of a species is mechanical intelligence, it relies on complexity and mechanical structure. Mechanical watches, it is actually a mechanical sense of the environment, the scene. To the digital capability is a very common program, which is a digital table. Such a change brings the increase of the whole function, which does not rely on the increase of hardware or less hardware, but also provides services with lower cost or better experience. This is the difference between smart cars and traditional cars.
To get this difference, do two things. The first is to equip the car with mechanical intelligence, and the second is to fully integrate it into the digital civilization. Mr. Ying just showed us a lot of his thinking, and I think this is a case that can give me a lot of inspiration. There may be other abilities, how to integrate life? This is the question of how do you evolve on top of a gene, iterate yourself and get the right to survive in an intelligent age?
What are the genes that make cars smart? As far as I am concerned, achievement is a full and complete perceptual architecture. From the perspective of data, it can be divided into three layers: The first layer has sufficient perceptual ability for all variables related to the identification of the whole scene. For example, why is Tesla strong when I see it today? Because it was the first to design a set of very good cognitive structure, until today its OTA upgrade still can rise to the latest version (a few years ago to sell tesla), because the change of the structure is not much more special, so it has collected all variables can fully together, all combined to produce a meaningful results is what? That's the scene we're talking about today.
So what does that mean? Meaningful is an effective understanding of the user's intentions, because only having a meaningful combination means that the user needs to exert an action and feedback on this aspect. If understood at these three levels, perception, decision, and execution will result in a clearer data structure.
If we have this data structure, if we understand intelligent cars, then we can think more clearly about what architecture to design, what way to think and what way to execute. For example, when it rains in the past, if you want to automatically close the skylight, you need to find a skylight supplier, and the skylight supplier will add a sensor. If it is an integral sensor, the skylight can be automatically closed at a lower cost.
Another example, there is a camera in the car, and you can see how many people are in the car. Are they registered users? What is the relationship between these people? What he's doing in the car, and whether he's wearing a seat belt, so that the hardware execution layer of the car can be smaller. This is very similar to today's iPhone, which is actually a very simple form of very small hardware modules, but can be done with a lot of software. From this point of view, if we sort out a clear data structure and then make smart cars, we will have better thinking and starting point.
The perceptual decision execution architecture we talked about earlier is the genes of intelligent cars. If we think about such a problem in terms of such a digital structure, with complete perception, we really can't find a relatively perfect structure. What is the user experience decision like?
If each car has the same user experience, the resulting decisions and feedback on the execution of each decision can give the user a different perception. From the perspective of evolution, complete perception, decision making and execution ability are my genes. The experience I provide to users is to constantly iterate the selection in the operation process, which will make the original concept more fully thought over and unified.
And finally, the intelligence that we're seeing today is really giving all of us here, especially Chinese brands, a bigger opportunity. In my understanding, intelligence must be highly integrated with local cloud, and it will also provide a greater market space for local automobile brands. Who will be the ultimate winner here?
According to two criteria, the first is whether there is intelligent gene, and the second is whether there is the willingness and ability to self-operate, self-iterate and self-evolve along with the intelligent new environment. From these two perspectives, we may find a lot of car companies that meet such characteristics.
We might think more clearly, what do we really need to build? Finally, today's car companies are more likely to play the role of equipment manufacturer or product manufacturer, how to transfer to the operation? This kind of operational shift is like when we think about whether to sell configuration or service or operation? This will completely change our organizational model and management structure.
Finally, I want to share with you an analogy. Let's say we compare a car to an appliance. What is an appliance? Take the TV market as an example. Today, people in the TV market have beaten SONY and Sharp perfectly, but they did not beat skyworth and Konka in the past. In fact, they beat Xiaomi. Is there a similar change in the car industry today? Who is the ultimate winner? You guys came out on the track. But we believe that local auto companies and local brands will have more opportunities. Thank you!
