Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory has recruited nearly 900 manufacturing jobs on a large scale, and at the same time has improved the manufacturing process and processes of the car, and is actively preparing to start Model Y in early 2021.
Tencent Auto News According to media reports, Tesla is preparing to start production of Model Y at the Shanghai Super Factory, for which the factory is recruiting nearly 900 manufacturing jobs on a large scale.
Tesla is preparing to advance the production process of Model Y crossover for the first time in the Chinese market, which is expected to be put into production in early 2021. Before manufacturing can continue, Tesla must hire a large-scale talent team that can handle the mass production of vehicles.
A Tesla owner and enthusiast shared recruitment information on social media, which listed the job title and the number of employees the company plans to hire.
The Shanghai Super Factory is currently expanding to make room for Model Y production. The second phase of the factory project will be used to put into production Model Y, Tesla will also use a new manufacturing process, using a large casting machine to produce the body.
Tesla not only recruits employees for the foundry shop, but also recruits employees in eight other areas. The most in-demand recruitment includes 180 people for the engine workshop, 370 people for the assembly workshop, and 140 people for the body workshop.
Every part of the Shanghai Super Factory Phase II project is to hire production operators, who will be responsible for assembling Model Y on the production line. These fields require the largest number of workers, thereby ensuring vehicle production efficiency and management.
Other areas for recruiting talents for the Model Y production line include stamping, painting, logistics, quality and pressurization workshops. All these recruitment tasks will create conditions for employees to "stand in place" to welcome the arrival of the Model Y crossover production date.
The company's team in China also expanded before hiring more employees at the Shanghai Super Factory. Tesla not only hopes to add more team members to its manufacturing plants, but also has issued several recruitment notices in service centers and showrooms across China.
Since the delivery of Model 3 in January 2020, Tesla has experienced an increase in demand in the consumer market in the Chinese market, and this recruitment is in response to this increase. It is worth mentioning that Model 3 has quickly surpassed BYD Qin Pro as the most popular electric car in China.
According to relevant media reports, Model 3 will account for 13% of China's electric vehicle market in 2020, which is more than 2.5 times that of Qin Pro.
Tesla expects Model Y to be the company's most popular car so far, thanks to its body style and increased cargo space.
The company focuses on improving the manufacturing process and processes of automobiles, starting with improving the chassis and removing a large number of components from the frame. The casting machine mentioned above will build an integrated chassis to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Combining the development of the manufacturing process with the expansion of the talent team in the Shanghai Super Factory, Tesla may start Model Y production earlier than expected.
