Ireland may ban the sale of fuel-powered cars by 2030

Publish Date: 2020.01.02

The trend towards electrification has swept the world in recent years, and several countries have expressed their intention to ban the sale of fuel-powered vehicles. Ireland may ban the sale of fuel-powered cars from 2030, foreign media reported recently. Local media reported that the ban is expected to be announced in early 2020, and that several government departments will continue to refine the law.

Irish leaders say they want at least a third of the country's cars to be electric within the next decade. By 2050, the goal of carbon neutrality can be achieved.

Carbon neutral refers to the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions directly or indirectly generated by enterprises or individuals within a certain period of time. Through afforestation, energy conservation and emission reduction, carbon dioxide emissions generated by enterprises or individuals can be offset to achieve "zero emission" of carbon dioxide. If implemented and completed, the law could see 936,000 pure electric and hybrid vehicles in Ireland by 2030.

In addition to supporting infrastructure, the Irish government wants to double the number of electric car chargers installed in homes and plans to build public charging stations across the country. This move will further achieve the growth of electric vehicle sales and the sustainable development of the environment.

In addition to Ireland, countries such as Norway and the Netherlands have proposed to ban the sale of fuel-powered cars by 2025. Countries such as Germany and Switzerland are aiming for 2030; Britain and France announced two years ago that they would ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2040.

For China, in the innovation center for energy and transportation (iCET) issued by the China traditional fuel vehicle exit timetable research report pointed out that, based on the 2017-2030 automobile consumption scenarios, combined with levels of car ownership, new energy vehicles seepage situation and policy inertia, expert interview and so on to judge, is expected in 2050 China's exit or traditional fuel vehicles can be realized, but at present there is a certain amount of uncertainty
