More than a third of the world's cars are white, followed by black and grey.

         According to a recent report, white is the world's most popular vehicle color for the 10th consecutive year, accounting for more than a third of the world's vehicles.

         According to Axalta, a leading paint supplier, 38% of the cars on the world's roads are white. Black cars came in second at 19%; Grey came in third at 15 per cent.

         This means that for the third year in a row, white vehicles account for 38 per cent of global traffic. Black has long been the driver's favourite colour and remains the colour of choice for luxury cars. In Europe, 62% of luxury cars are either grey or black, according to Hermes.

        While white cars are the most common color overall, there are regional variations. For example, white is the most common color in China, accounting for 57% of vehicle ownership, while in Europe, white and gray are basically the same, each accounting for 25% of the total vehicle ownership.

         Yellow and gold, by contrast, are unpopular in many countries but account for 5 per cent of car sales in China. On the other hand, data show that Chinese buyers don't like blue cars, which account for only 3% of sales in China.

         It is worth noting that the figures released by Exeter do not only cover individual indicators of the UK market. But according to figures released last year by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the most popular colour in the UK is grey, bucking the global trend. More than a fifth (22.6 per cent) of new cars have a grey front, followed by black and white.

         However, Scotland and the Channel Islands seem to be more in line with global consumer trends, with consumers preferring white, which is also, interestingly, the favourite colour of zero-emission car drivers. In 2019, British motorists will also choose black when choosing a luxury car.
