Exhibition Overview:

India International Motorcycle and Spare Parts Exhibition is one of the largest automotive professional exhibitions. It is co-sponsored by the Indian Automobile Parts Manufacturers Association, the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association. The first was held in 1986, the second in 1993, and the third in 1996. Since then, the Indian Auto Show has been held regularly every two years.

The show has developed into one of the largest automotive exhibitions in India and even Asia. In 2014, more than 2,000 companies from 36 countries around the world participated in the exhibition. Among them, there are 71,357 visitors in the auto and motorcycle parts exhibition area, of which 34,700 are professional buyers; the exhibition area of ​​auto parts exceeds 65,500 square meters. The visitors were mainly professionals from large overseas purchasing groups, managers, department managers, engineers, technicians, government officials, senior executives, decision makers, dealers and other professionals.

Development status of Indian automobile and motorcycle industry:

India is the fourth largest economic entity in the world, and its total national income ranks 12th in the world. India's total population is 1.21 billion, accounting for about 17.5% of the world's total population, and it continues to remain the second largest country in the world. Among them, the middle class accounts for about 250 to 300 million, exceeding the total population of the United States or the European Union.

India is the world ’s largest locomotive producer, the world ’s second largest two-wheeler producer, the fifth largest commercial vehicle producer, and the fourth largest passenger car producer in Asia; there are 12 passenger car manufacturers and 9 commercial vehicle manufacturers , 5 special vehicle factories, 5 engine manufacturers, 12 motorcycle factories, 4 tricycle factories, 10 tractor factories. In the automotive market, sales of Maruti Suzuki, Tata and Hyundai (India) accounted for 70% of India's total vehicle production; while the motorcycle market was basically monopolized by Hero Honda, Bajaj Auto and TVS.

Indian car sales each year reach 1.5 million, of which nearly 70% are small cars. Due to poor urban road traffic conditions and dense population, Indians have always preferred small cars. It is estimated that within 10 years, small car sales will account for 60% of global car sales.

60% of India's spare parts are exported to Europe and the United States, and nearly 3 billion US dollars of auto parts export business has been formed. By 2015, the annual sales of passenger cars in the Indian automotive market will reach about 3.5 million units, and the output value of the entire auto parts industry will reach 20 billion US dollars. It is expected that India will surpass Russia and Brazil to become the second largest of the BRIC countries in 2018 car market. Pawan Gonka, president of the Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association, predicts that India's car sales will triple in 4 years. By then, India will become another emerging auto parts market worldwide.

According to Perth Consulting, the Indian automotive market is about to explode, and the market size will exceed that of the United States in 25 years. The study believes that by 2020, Indian car sales will at least double to 5 million, and may even reach 6 million. By the mid-2020s, India will surpass the United States as a car manufacturing center, and after another 10 years, car sales will surpass the US market. Perth partner Vikas Sehgal believes that India may attract up to $ 35 billion in new investment from automakers and component suppliers, and the cars produced will meet the domestic market as well as South American, Middle Eastern and African market demand.

Under the WTO framework, India has relaxed or abolished most of its controls on trade, foreign investment and foreign exchange. This will undoubtedly open the door for global multinational companies! Similar to the early development trend of the Chinese automobile market, the Indian market is now attracting more and more attention and action of automobile manufacturers. Major global automobile manufacturers have adopted India as a new core manufacturing base and strategic development place.
