The recalled models include the 2021 Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac Escalade ESV, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Chevrolet Suburban and Chevrolet Tahoe large SUV.

GM stated in the recall notice that the external seat belt of the third-row seat of the vehicle may be caught behind the folding device of the seat, or may be misplaced, causing damage to the seat belt. In the event of a collision, if the damaged seat belt breaks, it may cause injury to the vehicle members. A GM spokesperson said that the company has not yet received an accident or injury report regarding this defect.

GM stated in the recall notice: "For certain models with third-row seats, the seat belts on one or both sides may be accidentally stuck in the folding mechanism of the seat during the installation of the third-row seat. , Or misalignment. In this case, the seat belt may be damaged by the seat folding mechanism."

GM’s remedial action statement submitted to the U.S. Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that dealers will inspect vehicle seat belts and replace damaged seat belts. If necessary, they will also reroute the seat belt to ensure that it is no longer damaged. GM also stated in a document that vehicles produced after November 18, 2020 are not covered by this recall. GM said that they have notified dealers on March 18, and car owners are expected to receive a recall notice from May 3.
