4AT, 6AT, 8AT, 10AT gearbox, the more gears the better?

At present, there are three common types of gearbox, namely, CVT, double clutch and automatic gearbox. So, is the automatic gearbox really in as many gears as possible? Personally, I don't think so. Why? For example, the 10-gear automatic gearbox is larger than the 6-gear automatic gearbox, the parts are more demanding, the cooling system is more stringent design, gear shifting logic is more difficult than the 6-gear gearbox design. So why are so many car companies developing a 10-gear transmission? In fact, more reason lies in vicious competition and gimmicks, for example, consumers do not know anything when buying a car, it is easy to be car companies, 4S shops with rhythm that the gearbox the higher the better, that the car is more high-end, so this wrong cognition will in turn force car companies to produce, with a 10-block gearbox. Vicious competition brings unrealistic consequences, the technology does not accumulate, immature, constantly rapid production to market, the result naturally leads to frequent transmission problems.




Also, some people say, the higher the position, the more fuel efficient the car? Actually this kind of view is very one-sided, because the transmission gears, relatively speaking, in the speed change gear case, the speed match the gear, theoretically more fuel economy, but as long as the gearbox working properly, the theory of 8 automatic gearbox is enough, and logic more closely, compared with 10 block transmission will be more fuel-efficient.




Because from the point of view of cost, weight and volume, the 8-gear transmission is obviously more economical than the 10-gear transmission, more cost oriented, more mature technology, smaller volume, lighter weight and better fuel economy. In other words, the above aspects aside, purely from the technical maturity of the analysis, it is clear that the 8-gear automatic transmission has been stable and mature.




Finally, in the process of buying a car, we should value the overall quality of the car, word of mouth, rather than run the gearbox position higher to buy a car, or by 4S shop sales consultants with the rhythm, the final result or their own pay, the loss.
