Another mobile phone manufacturer set foot in building cars? Meizu will cooperate with car companies to push smart car systems

Publish Date: 2021.05.05

Regardless of whether they build cars themselves, the relationship between Internet technology companies and cars is becoming closer. Recently, the official Weibo of smartphone manufacturer Meizu Technology announced that its Flyme for Car vehicle system's first cooperative model will be officially released on April 30.

Flyme is an operating system tailored for smartphones by Meizu based on the Android operating system. The Flyme system is the deep embodiment of Meizu's design philosophy in the software and is also one of the core competitiveness of Meizu mobile phones.

In fact, it is not uncommon for mobile phone manufacturers and car manufacturers to cooperate on in-vehicle systems. The most famous Apple Carplay is to "project" mobile phone functions onto the car's large screen to realize the functions of mobile phones on the car. The further cooperation between technology manufacturers and mobile phone manufacturers is to start from the underlying system and jointly build smart cockpits. The recent cooperation between Huawei and Jihu is an attempt to connect Huawei Hongmeng OS with cars.

We do not know which auto company Meizu will cooperate with this time. However, with the release of the Meizu Flyme in-vehicle system, it also predicts the willingness of another mobile phone manufacturer to cut the ecological chain into the automotive field in addition to Huawei and Xiaomi. At the same time, not long ago, there were rumors that OPPO was investigating and building cars.

The fierce competition among smart phone manufacturers is spreading to the field of smart cars.
