On July 30, 2020, Bentley Motors announced its global performance for the first half of 2021, with sales and profits hitting record highs. Among them, operating profit reached 178 million euros, exceeding the annual profit level of the Bentley brand in previous years. In addition, the semi-annual sales data of Bentley Motors' global market has increased from 4,785 units before the emergence of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in 2019 to 7,199 units in 2021, with a half-year sales increase of 50%.
In the first half of 2021, the three major car series under the Bentley brand have been widely favored by global customers. The specific performance is: 2,767 units of the Bentayga series, 2,318 units of the Continental GT car series, and 2,063 units of the Flying Spur series. The Bentayga series have been launched on the global market and become the best-selling Bentley product. The Bengaluru plug-in hybrid version and Bengaluru S models will also be launched in 2021. In addition, with the introduction of the Continental GT Express model in some markets around the world in the second half of 2021, the sales volume of the Continental GT car series is expected to reach a new high. The launch of the Flying Spur V8 model has enabled the development of the Flying Spur series and has been deeply loved by Chinese customers. In the first half of 2021, the Chinese market has become the world's largest market for Bentley Motors. Currently, the sales of Flying Spurs account for about 29% of Bentley's global sales in the first half of 2021.
There are uncertainties from the global market behind the outstanding performance. In view of the current situation of the global new crown pneumonia epidemic, in the second half of 2021, there will still be challenges to the production and operation levels. Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, said: “The performance of the Bentley brand in the first half of 2021 is an important milestone. We have clearly stated in the'Beyond100' business strategy that by 2030 The Bentley brand is committed to leading the way in sustainable luxury travel. The transformation of electrification will lead the development of global ultra-luxury travel modes."
Financially, in the first half of 2021, the Bentley brand achieved an operating income of 1.32 billion euros in the global market, which was higher than the 834.8 million euros operating income obtained before the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia in 2019. Operating profit was 178 million euros, of which the corresponding sales profit rate was 13%, a record high.
The Bentley brand refreshed its global half-year performance in 2014, with operating revenue of 887 million euros and operating profit of 95.2 million euros. 2014 was the most outstanding year of Bentley's global performance, with annual profit of 170 million euros. Today, the Bentley brand's half-year profit in 2021 has exceeded this figure.
