According to foreign media reports, Samsung SDI, a battery manufacturer under the Samsung Group, has signed a battery contract with Volkswagen.

    People familiar with the matter said that Samsung SDI will be responsible for part of the production of the "Unified Prismatic Cell" (Unified Prismatic Cell) designed by Volkswagen. However, it is not clear whether Samsung SDI will be solely responsible for the production of this battery. Volkswagen may provide Samsung SDI with the specifications and functions of the "unified rectangular battery" it needs, and Samsung SDI is responsible for the design and manufacture.

    On March 15 this year, at Volkswagen's "Power Day" event, the "Unified Square Battery" was released to the public for the first time.

    At present, Samsung SDI has electric vehicle battery plants in South Korea, China, Malaysia, and Hungary. The company's customers include Ford, BMW, Volvo, Volkswagen, etc.
